Tonight, with loud voices in hushed spaces Elise, Julia, and I held funerals for days dearly departed. Well, all things considered it was more like an Irish Wake, but the point is we were eulogizing and celebrating because soon new moments just as important are going to be born. Currents are congealing and from all the way over here I can see the husks of some of you breaking. But I rejoice because I can also see your understanding that this is not enough, can see your desire to push further. With this in mind the three of us would like to present all of you with a very special gift. The fruit of a project that has remained a secret until now, Gate 12:

Gate 12 is the product of a peculiar machine Julia and I built many years ago. This machine which Julia has dubbed (with her trademark anachronistic sense of humor) the Newcomen 2, is made of three pieces: Me, Julia, and the space seen in this picture:

More accurately it is built from those three parts at a specific point in time. Much like the original Newcomen it was our attempt to build something that would harness a particular kind of power to perform mechanical work. More specifically it was designed to harness hyper-dimensional power for the purpose of creating devices meant to weaken the fabric of reality. Creating areas that are more malleable than one is used to. Think of it as our version of an industrial revolution for sacred sites and ley lines.
Twelve was always an important number for Julia and me, so it was perhaps unsurprising that the twelfth artifact the machine produced was abnormal. Abnormal even for the sorts of abnormal things hyper-dimensional machines make. The artifact itself is, I think buried might be the best term, out in the Appalachians. Gate 12 is a conduit for its output.
Some of you may be familiar with the deliberate altered states of consciousness so often employed by magicians (a more deliberate version of the child at play or the artist in creation), fortunately even if you aren’t your utter exhaustion, your extreme fatigue both physical and creative has suitably altered your consciousness for our purpose. Better still thanks to Elise’s tinkering with Gate 12 it has been calibrated to be especially responsive to the attention of artists currently involved with the Terra Extremitas project.
Think of time as a substance rather than a linear measurement system for movement. That kind of time is called kairos. If we imagine artists as the fathers of their art, kairos would be that art’s mother. Now imagine that substance emitted a kind of radiation. That radiation is what we refer to as kairotic energy. (a marriage of the concepts of kairos and kinetic energy).
Contemplate Gate 12, meditate on it, and lose yourself in its geometry. What transmits from it to you is kairotic energy. You are broken and exhausted, and now you must burn. In this way may you rise like the phoenix to serve your art, to serve the currents of Extremitas, and to feed The Fiction. Think of Gate 12 as a font of artistic energy and divine madness, and partake as needed.
It is my absolute and humbling pleasure to be a part of something like this with artists as wonderful as all of you.
