Oracle Interview with John Harrigan

Orakle1_2

Over a year ago, John Harrigan met his friend David Blank in the basement of Treadwell's Book Shop, having just completed his thirteen-month residency at the Horse Hospital, where he wrote, directed and performed in the 'Dark Nights of the Soul' Anthology of rituals; a powerful and emotional journey for everyone involved.

The interview, which explores John's approach to magick, weaponized art and society, and also discusses his views on archetypes, retroactive magick and time was published in David's Oracle Occult magazine in Issue 8: Blue Moon 2007.

David has kindly given us a PDF of the interview in its entirety, so is now available for download on FP.com.

Thank you to David once again for transcribing this incredible interview. No-one else could have produced such a close piece which captures the true essence of the Dark Nights Anthology.

You can keep updated on the latest issues of The Oracle Occult Magazine at: www.oracleoccult.com and www.myspace.com/oracleoccultmagazine

"Time becomes this big sheet, this landscape, that you exist within that is not linear and as you go further into that landscape it gets more complicated to explain what you are...Time to me is absolutely non-linear and things are happening now that are effecting my past that don't go through you as a creation, as a person, it's literally happening then and it effects you straight away in the future...We did a lot of work in Dark Nights, in cycle three, with a future-selves working, which is where we take people through a magickal ritual to experience, to meet, themselves in the future and this future self would talk to that person and give set information." Oracle - Eight

The Oracle is an independent and contemporary occult magazine published in London, UK. It is non-sectarian and not connected with any particular occult organisation or path. It is a forum for the serious discussion and exploration of the occult in theory and practice.

The latest issue of The Oracle Occult Magazine, Oracle No. 8, will be available from the 28th July 2007 through leading occult bookshops (UK only) or online by e-mailing sales@oracleoccult.com

Oracle 8:

With a nod to the egregore - the Ouroboros who adorns the front cover in resplendent hue of earth & fire - we find ourselves entering through “the enamel blue brick Ishtar gate” as Peter Grey, author of ‘The Red Goddess’, introduces us to ‘BABALON – The Great Whore’.
From Babylon we journey to Hyperborea where David Beth (Sovereign Grand Master of the O.T.O.A/L.C.N. of Michael Bertiaux and Patriarch of the Ecclesia Gnostica Aeterna) communicates to us certain Mysteries concerning the Fraternitas Borealis, a mysterious magical and philosophical community whose work has never before been published.

Turning the page, taking a different path, we find ourselves face to face with Loki, as Mordant Carnival introduces us to Him, placing Him in historical and cultural context - with a uniquely accessible and at times playful prose style - before getting down to business with the hows and whys of dealing with Loki. Mordant’s approach to working with Loki was described to me by Stephen Grasso as Northern Voudou.

Returning to the metropolis we share a drink with David Blank, editor of the Oracle, as he discusses his personal practice as a sorcerer – The Feral Sorcerer weaving the spider’s web, spinning spells, quickening the witchblood.

Our journey ends as we find ourselves in the basement of Treadwell’s Books in Covent Garden, London, where David Blank interviews John Harrigan, Artistic Director of FoolishPeople. This interview, which took place over a three and a half hour period, explores John Harrigan’s approach to magick, art and society within context of ‘Dark Nights of The Soul’ - A thirteen-month magickal ritual in the form of a six-part anthology of plays.

The interview is a unique and in depth exposition of the Artistic Director of FoolishPeople – one of the most cutting edge and original ritual theatre companies currently extant. Their work continually pushes the boundaries of art and ritual theatre.

The Oracle invites you to enter through the gates and experience this journey for yourselves.

Retroactive Magic in Ritual

I'm pleased to say that I'm back at the magnificent Treadwell's on April the 15th for Retroactive Magic in Ritual, a full day workshop. I'll talk more about this type of Magick as the date gets closer, but I will say this the techniques taught and shared during this workshop were developed and refined during the Dark Nights of the Soul Anthology. They offer an insight into how the fourth dimension - Time can be interacted with in a non-linear fashion. I hope you can come along and meet one of your younger or possibly older selves. Tickets bookable from Treadwells. Full details below.

Retroactive Magic in Ritual: A Workshop with John Harrigan
15th April (Sunday) 11am – 6pm
£40 in advance

John Harrigan will take you through an experiential day workshop that exposes participants to the core magical techniques and practices that are integral to FoolishPeople’s work. You will examine retroactive time and learn how to apply it through magical ritual using powerful exercises that combine the transcendental and theurgic strands of ceremonial magic with established theatrical techniques.

Particpants also approach how these can be combined to re-examine notions of time, will and motivation, and show how these are used to shed fixed negative, inherited identities to reveal true will. This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience. Please register for this course as soon as possible as spaces are strictly limited. The cost of the day includes tea, coffee and other light refreshments. John Harrigan is director of the occultist theatre company FoolishPeople, whose cycle of plays was recently performed at the Horse Hospital Theatre in Bloomsbury. For more on FoolishPeople and the work of the company, see www.foolishpeople.org.

BOOKING: Please book in advance via info@treadwells-london.com or Tel. +44 (0)20 7240 8906. Map on our website, www.treadwells-london.com.

Sticky with wet desires and slick evolve; disney hurt and pentagon medicine. I want you when it’s all done, when all the stories are told. When the teeth are out and the flesh in my mouth has scales. Give your sacred role, as we ache for your pain.

Hooked into what I am, I attach you now to this purpose, as your pain becomes the conduit with which the scar heals and the bridge is built across the end into the new. Look out and stroke my face. Look at what you are, know you are the beautiful one with poena, who takes the punishment in place of those who will not face the future.

Close the gates and let your velvet passion rise as we will you to become what you were, and are. Every innocent lost in one moment of simple pain will heal via this night, as we resurrect every possibility for your species.

Let us see your quiet glory.

Goodbye

Yesterday I sat down with David Blank for an interview that will appear in Oracle Occult magazine next year. This allowed me the time to finally place all that has occurred for myself and FoolishPeople during the last year into perspective.

This year has contained so much that it has literally broken time for me. I am no longer able to experience it in the same manner as I once did. Linear is now a dead word.

So tonight is bitter sweet. Through my work with FP I have gained so much. I travel towards 07 with literally a completely new life. Everything has changed. For good and bad.  Tonight I say goodbye to everyone I lost. I also celebrate the start of the next chapter.

Happy New Year.

All Circuits Activated

So the Cycles are over and the alchemical process complete. Or is it? The seeds have been planted, will they germinate?

During my annual Yuletide cold, thankfully early this year, I recently found myself contemplating the Meaning of this cyclic journey. In a way this is a hopeless task, for in my view the whole play, or ‘hyper-sigil’ , was essentially meaningless, and in a sense that was the whole point, it was I think a transcendence of Meaning, or at least of ‘meaning’ as normally understood. Paradoxically at the same time it was rich in many meanings, many complex layers of alternative, and sometimes conflicting, meaning, some obviously deliberate, others apparently synchronistically generated. In fact a great part of the whole thing for me was the breakdown of the mono-meaning of conventional reality models, and the encounter with a kaleidoscope of multiple meaning. A rich and paradoxical panorama that better captures the essence of our complex reality. Whose dissonant expression and emotional intensity accounted for much of the hilarity generated (ably catalysed by some genuinely humorous moments). But it was not mere comedy that we experienced, its dark humour partially cushioned us from the impact of some of its more intense and disturbing moments. It was a true dark night of the soul, a crossing the abyss, and an encounter with a paradoxical reality beyond our everyday world, a liminal space in between. A place that can only be fully reached by a catastrophic fragmentation or death of ego, and its reintegration and rebirth in a new self. The Negrido of the Alchemists that was the first step in turning shit into gold.

In many ways its chief metaphor, the downloading of new software into the hardware of the audience (the desired effect of experiencing this rite on them), reminded me of Dr Timothy Leary’s ‘activation and imprinting’ of higher ‘neural circuits’. And the imagery of the play could be easily read as fitting this model. No doubt other models were also there, but the ‘eight circuit’ model was certainly present in the play for me. What else was the Carnival but the Hedonic Rapture of Leary’s fifth ‘Neurosomatic Circuit’ with its Bacchanalian excesses and ‘seership’, but a place where we are liberated from convention and can glimpse a variety of alternatives across time and space, but can do nothing to really change anything? Probably many things but certainly this. According to Leary it is only when we activate our sixth ‘Neuroelectric Circuit’ that we can really begin to change ourselves and our reality. Here is the realm of simultaneous multiple meaning and alternatives, a chattering chaos of conflicting archetypal forces, until we imprint it with a coherent program that reorders it into something conceivable to us. It is also realm of psychic, non-verbal and non linear communication, where we may commune with other minds and be enlightened by ‘higher beings’ (perhaps parts of our true self), a veritable ‘Spirit Parliament’ in the true sense of the word. Such a shift in perspective is said to expand out consciousness greatly, and we not only become aware of other realities but are able to shift between them and change our own. It is often regarded as equivalent to the opening of our third eye or the birth of a sorcerer. But in order to reach this state we must first enter Chapel Perilous and be torn apart by all our internal conflicts and fears, only to be reborn as a new being. The same process was known to the Alchemists as the Negrido, the Blackening, or the encounter with the Black Sun. I would regard Dr Bleach as essentially the Dweller on the Threshold between these two states the Carnival and the Parliament, enticing the audience to cross it, as well as embodying the very process of the transformation. His Parliament consisting of the Gristly Machine (a container for the Deep Unconscious?), whose drives and powerful images energise the whole process, much like the serpentine Kundalini in Tantra (or Leary’s primal ‘Bio-Survival Circuit’?); the Uber-Marionettes, egoless, driven beings who channel the images and energies from the Machine into powerful, dream like ‘astral’ narratives (Leary’s ‘Emotional Circuit’?); Mr Sam, the rational technician who built and attempts to control the Machine (the egoic and rational ‘Symbolic Circuit’?) ; Aquinas, essentially the Conscience and Karma bearer (perhaps Leary’s domesticating ‘Socio-Sexual Circuit’ responsible for our socialisation);and finally the Queen of Illumination, at first the seer Priestess Kato, and later the Dionysian goddess Kiskil-Lilla, who in different ways could be seen as representing aspects of the ‘Neurosomatic Circuit’. Dr Bleach himself was ostensibly the Ringmaster of the hedonic circus, but really perhaps the demon Asmodai, the Choronzon like figure, who stands at the Threshold of the Abyss, drawing the archetypal energies of these lower states into the abyssal ‘Sixth Circuit’, and forming from these his Parliament, exposed to interrogation and tearing itself apart with its internal conflicts, it attempts to reintegrate into a new reality. An attempt which itself is perhaps a ritual demon-stration to the audience of what is possible, and an attempt to disturb their everyday mindsets and ‘download’ a new program. As Bleach himself claims he brings an Armageddon, perhaps both of an outer civilisation and the inner order of conventional thought and ego structure that underpins it. Though by the end we discover there is no end as we have stepped outside normal time and space. Time has ended. Each declining civilisation faces this possibility it is suggested, and can either change or be fragmented into the chaos and death of the Abyss (though it will formally die whatever path it takes), and Dr Bleach will call his Spirit Parliament in to catalyse this process. Other players emerge of course, not least Jehovah and his angels, who perhaps represent the illusory tunnel realities of the lower circuits, the forces of order , who may have once been ‘Good’ and necessary for the survival and advancement of our ancestors, but who now act as prison wardens, through the agency of the degenerate Christian Demon Joffiert, a tyrannical jail keeper, and her chief agent, the Wound. Forces of ‘Lawful Evil’ who maintain the status quo. In contrast to these is the ‘Chaotic Evil’ of the demon Asmodai and Dr Bleach who seek to break out of this prison into a new more liberated ‘Good’. Between these various hosts stand a range of neutral Elemental Forces, acting under the influence of the tidal forces generated by these great hosts.

Perhaps. Obviously that is just one of many rational cross sections of the complex events of these cycles, and not even a complete one at that for a play of such multi-layered depth and paradox. It, and other interpretations, may serve as a way of exploring and processing the experiences of the cycles, but ultimately it is not the creation of meaning that I suspect the author desired, but rather its disintegration into a chaotic flux in which many new multi-perspectival realities and truths could be experienced and learnt. It would thus be a mistake to diminish this to much by over interpretation.

I had no time to process all this myself immediately after the play as I was already focused on the Dionysian Underground’s own project, mentioned earlier in this blog. Not as ambitious as the Dark Night’s agenda but of equal importance on a planet still trapped in the hellish prison of its ‘everyday reality’. Our mission on the surface was merely the opening rite of a club called the Pleasure Lab, billed as an Erotic Electro club (essentially a cross between a fetish sex club and a 21st century disco). But the reality behind this appearance was as ever much deeper. For a civilisation still dominated by what Leary called the ‘Four Terrestrial Circuits’ of conventional reality, activation of the ‘Hedonic Fifth Circuit’ is of crucial importance, not to mention great fun. A circuit turned on by sex and excitement is never hard work for the Dionysian Underground, and its benefits extend far beyond the liberation of sexuality (crucial in itself), but also involve the Tantric ‘turn on’ of what Leary called the ‘Neurosomatic Circuit’. Bringing the Circus to town! Our own technique for this was a traditional evocation with a (post)modern  twist. We first protected our space by generating not a circle but a magically expanding disco ball, reflecting all negative energies from the venue. Then under the guidance of our own Carnivaleque Ringmaster and Hedonic Evoker, and the assistance of daemonic fiddler called Orryelle,  we raised up the energies of the Kundalini Serpent, through the ritual union of the twin currents of its energy, manifest as the God and Goddess, before spraying this energy out into the club in an explosive Magical Orgasm, activating the Hedonic Consciousness, whose fertilised Yonic energy then rained down on us all. The residual charge of this energy being stored in wine and bread, given to the audience, and each other, in erotic communion. The God and Goddess invoked for this rite were of course wild Dionysos and his traditional erotic consort Aphrodite, both of whom represent the life force in general, and particularly its sexual manifestation, but also are specifically associated with the Hedonism of  ‘Fifth Circuit’ consciousness. There role as bearers of this convention breaking level of consciousness was symbolic emphasised by the invocation of Dionysos into a girl carrying a Yonic Chalice (the Cunt of Bacchus) and of Aphrodite into a Phallus bearing Maenad (the Cock of Venus). It was through the ritual union of these inverted Godforms that the energies were entwined and raised. All with the assistance of the initiating power of a Baphometic Pan, who represented the guardian of the source of the Kundalini in the Root Centre (a bestial god akin to Ganesh), and whose energies split into ‘male’ and ‘female’ forces (through the ritual raising and passing of the yoni and lingam from the altar) and were absorbed into the respective Godforms empowering them. The Hedonic Deities could thus raise and channel the energy into its desired manifestation. The audience then drank from the ‘Cunt of Bacchus’ and ate the ‘Cock of Venus’ in the Erotic Communion. Throughout the ritual two BDSM clowns disrupted any terrestrialising ‘gravity’, that could have been generated by the formal ritual, through their comic mimicry of the rite and foolish antics, thus allowing the energy to achieve ‘escape velocity’ and transcend the conventional domain into Hedonic Rapture. Which to the strains Led Zeppelin’s ‘a Whole Lot of Love’ initiated the orgiastic revels of the Bacchanal. This of course was merely the magical precursor of liberating activity that subsequently occurred in the club, and will hopefully continue in its future manifestations.

The Story So Far - My First Encounter with the Spirit Parliament

Dsc05007

If I ever get out of here this will be my first blog entry in over a year, in case I don’t somebody please make sure the following writings find their way into the hands of a contributor to the SPS website so that the truth regarding my absence and the nature of the Spirit Parliament can make it’s way into the public domain. There’s a list of e-mail contacts on the links page on the site, or there was when I last had internet access.

The last time I contributed to this site we were discussing my experience and speculation regarding the disappearance and fate of fellow investigator and contributor, Rupert Banwen. Though I have not located him, or learnt of how or to what degree the Spirit Parliament were responsible for his disappearance my investigations have led me to make discoveries and experience phenomena that shake the foundations of my perceptions of reality.

I have been to Hell and back. This isn’t a trite metaphor; this is very much literally what has happened. I’ve also met the Spirit Parliament and witnessed the Dark Nights of the Soul spirit carnival.

Pleasure and Pain in Eudaemonia

Am very much looking forward to the penultimate cycle on Saturday. This series has had  a significant influence  on my own thinking; regarding both magic and art and I eagerly await its complete manifestation. I also hope to introduce a Persian Artist-Sorceress friend of mine to the phenomenon this Saturday too, she comes to the series late but I know she will appreciate it.

Anyway my researches into pain and pleasure continue, along with the related energetic dynamics of the cosmos, pretentious fucker that I am for thinking I can grasp all the mysteries of reality :) But at least I may generate a few interesting models. I've always been big on the Ancient Greek concept of Eudaemonia (Good Daemonism, the idea that when we tune into our Good Daemon, or Genius, or True Self, we experience Pleasure) and the Ethical Hedonism that arises from this. The basic idea being that everything in the cosmos has a role and a place in the complex organic 'mechanism' (as well as it being a local manifestation of that 'mechanism' in some Hermetic versions of the theory). Thus all the components resonate harmoniously together when in proper relation to each other and this is the basis of the Pleasure. Our true role in the cosmos being Star Daemons we thus achieve pleasure in realising this as much as we do in being in right relation to the World and the beings in it. Pain is generally seen as a sign of wrong relation (and in modern versions is often associated with the 'false pleasures' of compensation, found in such things as consumerism and drug and sex addiction. As opposed to the true enjoyment of eroticism and entheogens and other goodies that make up our cosmos).
This of course has led some to a very conservative form of esotericism in which the Good consists of everyone knowing 'their place'. But this view misses a very important aspect of the theory. The cosmos is not fixed but dynamic and evolving (and de-evolving) in multiple directions. For this to be realised we need to discard the Platonistic notions of an underlying and eternal 'natural order', or even a state of 'ideal perfection' to which we 'should' be moving. And perhaps even Aristotle's milder notion of an evolving 'ideal form', that underlies the modern concept of species and fitness. And instead embrace the ideas of Heraclitus that at root the cosmos is a constantly shifting, dynamic whole, that constantly adapts itself in relation to the other within itself. A Western Tao whose components perform the dance of an emergent dualism of Yin and Yang on multiple levels and dimensions. A reality paradoxical enough to be obviously true! A Tao that for Heraclitus was ultimately rooted in the Energy that emerged from Night and Nothingness. We might thus extend this into the views of Chaos Magic where Unmanifest Kaos underlies all manifestation. Thus while the cosmos may settle on certain patterns (and species) and Eudaemonic pleasure mechanisms emerge to conserve these forms, it does not follow that these form are necessarily the Best (however we judge that). An evolution to something better may occur through drift or intention but such is a slow process. When a more drastic change is required, in times of crisis like today, then the shift of form may have to be more aggressive, a transgression of past forms and their boundaries that 'pushes the envelope' into new patterns. Such change in terms of existant eudaemonia may be experienced as pain, however if this change leads to a new harmonic structure then the 'future eudaemonia' may extend back retroactively and offset this pain with its own pleasures. Moreover according to Heraclitus the processes which underlie his version of Taoism are as much about tension and conflict (palintonos) as they are about harmonisation, for it is the tension to breaking point in the bow that shots the arrow and brings resolution. Thus conflict is energising and within a Eudaemonic context perhaps sometimes associated with pain as much as pleasure. For as Nietzsche said that which does not destroy me makes me stronger and the greatest pleasure is found in the overcoming of a resistance (which will presumably be initially painful). Thus pain and pleasure may have their own complex Tao in the 'greater scheme of things'. At least its a comforting thought. So I for one will take my eudaemonic pleasures in that I wish to conserve and face my pleasurable and not so pleasurable pains in that I wish to revolutionize....

Catholic marchers turn on Glastonbury pagans

In scenes reminiscent of medieval witchhunts, Catholic pilgrims in Glastonbury have attacked pagans and threatened to “cleanse” them from the town.

Local pagans were pelted with salt and branded witches who “would burn in hell” during a procession organised by Youth 2000, a conservative Catholic lay group. The Magick Box, a pagan shop on the route of the march, was also singled out and attacked.

Maya Pinder, the owner of the shop, said: “We’ve had to hear comments such as ‘burn the witches’, we’ve had salt thrown in our faces and at our shop, people were openly saying they were ‘cleansing Glastonbury of paganism’.

Cycle V: Home

Dsc04882

Cycle V: Home is only one week away, which means that I am only four weeks away from the end of The Dark Nights of the Soul Anthology. Cycle VI. The very final Cycle takes place on the 8th of December.

Words are irrelevant, they really fail to sum up any useful representation of the exact location of where I currently exist.

If you have paid attention this all began over a year ago with Cycle I the Wyrm Shroud.

Even now I am still unsure if I will be able to complete this and finish the final Cycle, before the bridge collapses that connects me to solid ground.

Dont expect to see or hear from FoolishPeople for a long time once this ritual is complete.

Tickets are very, very limited. So if you want to come along please don't leave it until the last minute. You can get your tickets from the Horse Hospital. Details below.

Seed

Came in to the 491 Gallery today to find that Lili Spain had set the space with the seed of the installation she will be creating for Cycle V Home. This has been by far the hardest Cycle yet, but the experience of working within Lili's work today was incredible, it took us to another level. This working relationship has to be one of the most exciting for a long time.

Vesna has been busy with her photography, the picture below was taken today. She was back at the cemetery in the morning getting shots for the image that will accompany press for Cycle V.

Now I'm going to bed before they announce the American mid terms.

Lili Spain

Week two of rehearsals is over, and I have to say, one of the delights of rehearsing at the 491 Gallery has been becoming acquainted with extremely talented artist Lili Spain, whom I am proud to announce is now collaborating with FP in Cycle V! Using John's script as a base, Lili is designing and developing an installation art piece that comprises the set of 'Home', which is the penultimate Cycle of the 'Dark Nights of the Soul' anthology, taking place on the 18th November at the Horse Hospital.

The Dark Moon

Having survived slicing open my foot and denting my head during escalator and cupboard attacks yesterday, (I am always strangely aloof from myself the day of the new moon!), we started rehearsals at the 491 Gallery today for Cycle V, in perfect synchronicity with the dark moon period of rest and beginnings, which brought lots of positive energy.

We welcomed some very talented new cast members: Vesna, Hayley, and Alexis into FP today, and we are very much looking forward to working with them over the next four weeks! During one exercise we had to feel the energies of the room and let ourselves be drawn to a specific place. I was immediately magnetised to a fantastic mixed media piece by Steve Gent, which upon closer inspection later on I realised was entitled:

'Home'.

Which in a beautiful synchronicity is the title of the next Cycle, though I was not surprised in the slightest!

The magick of this year-long ritual continues...

New Roads into old towns.

Friday is over, only as of now. It became one of those days that reverberated through flesh and was subsequently carried over Saturday into Sunday.

Performance 2.0 of Weaponised Art was delivered. Unknowns tracked me down and shook my hand after which is always a good sign. Thank you to everyone who came to support us, special thanks goes to Lucy, Stella, Steve, David, Rob, Christina, Sarah, Jen, Alexa, Tereza and of course Guerrilla Zoo and the majestic James.

Weaponised Art is officially put to bed for this year, the innoculation now needs time to brew within.

Seven weeks of rehearsals begin in just over eleven hours at the 491 Gallery for Cycle V and IV. My mind is already drifting towards next year.

491 Gallery...

...is a gallery like no other!
It is a unique Sustainable Community Regeneration Art Project (SCRAP) that has been addressing the needs of the local community for five years in a way that no other organisation could. It is an evolving Arts Piece, a meta-conceptual living room, a pirate utopia, reclaiming neglected land and property and giving something incredible back to the community with a healthy balance of art, regeneration, education, performance, gardening, and diversity of life.

This is why we are proud to announce the 491 Gallery as our official sponsors for the final two cycles of ‘Dark Nights of the Soul’, providing us with a creative space with which to develop our work in this very special environment.

During this time, FoolishPeople will be open source, sharing our skills, resources and abilities though a symbiotic relationship with the 491 Gallery and the surrounding community. FP would like to thank Stef, Lisa, Vittoria and Santi in enabling this to happen. We look forward to this exciting residency!

New Blood

Last night was fucking tough, existed in hybrid dreams with a virus. My mind and body have finally relented. I have come down with a flu virus that's been lurking within and threatening to become active at any moment.

Rehearsed yesterday in a different type of delirium. Currently attempting to trace the meaning within the Weaponised Art 2.0 action.

So many of my work currents are converging. I stupidly made the comment to a friend that I felt that each Cycle of Dark Nights should be hard and painful as all of the most crucial lessons we learn in life are born of pain.

Yes lets wave the big red rag in magicks face.

So within twenty fours of the comment almost all of the pre-production work we have completed turns around and becomes retro-causal.

Were holding auditions for Cycle V on Tuesday at Artsadmin. Expect new blood for Cycle V.

The Cimetière Grimoire. Entrée DCCCLXXXVIII

This is my final entry in this accursed work which has swallowed my life and taken everything that I ever truly treasured.

Friends, family and youth. The path I have followed has been fraught. Through every place of power where we lay our bones and free our will.

These harrow homes that I have torn secrets from.

Through all the many laws of the places that we finally rest in and which they that will remain unnamed shall forever have dominion over, there is one rumour that still persists that I have saved for the final entry in my life’s work, which has proven almost impossible to prise each and every fact from. For its pervasive power and structure shifts throughout all of time.

This is the terrible tale of a family who’s story begins with a woman of carnival stock….

Home is the penultimate Cycle of the award winning Dark Nights of the Soul anthology.
