Terra: Extremitas - Alien Lilith - Reinhard Schleining

Terraextremitas_hires

Reinhard Schleining is working with FP again on the second TERRA Meta Event.

May 02, 2008

FoolishPeople are seeking artists and performers for the second TERRA Meta-Event

What You Can Do to Prepare:

1) Can you hear the droning sound? This noise can cause bleeding from the ear canal and is the first sign that a manifestation of The Fiction is about to occur.

2) Do you or any of your family members have a sharp metallic taste in your mouth?

3) Is the local environment you are inhabiting, your home or shelter becoming less tangible? Are walls or the structure becoming transparent and changing colour?  Are doors or rooms appearing where there were none previously?

Turn off all entertainment devices. Burn any books, art or toys you might have that contain elements that could be dangerous if manifested by The Fiction. Go to an interior room without windows that’s above ground level free from anything fictional.

Following the outstanding success of 'Terra Incognita' in London, where FP collaborated with over 40 artists and musicians worldwide; FoolishPeople have decided to re-imagine and manifest a sequel Meta Event in Amsterdam, collaborating with new artists from different mediums and disciplines, based locally and worldwide to create 'Terra: Extremitas -The End of The Earth' at NDSM-werf (ndsm.nl) from 06.08.08 - 10.08.08.

'Terra: Extremitas' will exist as an open source myth, which each artist will use to cultivate and develop original art. This will then be integrated and embedded into the narrative of 'Terra: Extremitas' to create a fully immersive world.

You will collaborate with FoolishPeople to create Weaponised Art that has the ability to fundamentally alter the viewer's perception of how they relate to and interact with art.

To apply, send your CV, covering letter, and examples of your work to this email address by the 18th of May.

The Revolution

What will happen when half the country is unemployed, with no medical insurance, stuck in a sheet rock house miles from public transportation? They’ll be ripe for religion or revolution if you ask me. Bibles and bullets. Will they still support the billions a day spent in Iraq? I don’t think so—even now they don’t. One would expect they’ll be pretty pissed off watching the rich and famous party endlessly and continue their glamorous lifestyle—or maybe not. Surprising to me, those being duped and exploited by banks and entrepreneurs often envy their “betters”—they want to be that person in the Beemer or Lexus, and will mortgage everything they’ve got to have a symbolic piece of it. Instead of anger and action we get envy—the bane of every outside agitator, union organizer, and young revolutionary.

Joseph Matheny conducts a GPod Radio installment interviewing artist Ray Carney and co-authors Edward Wilson and Wes Unruh about their upcoming book The Art of Memetics. Why are the authors glad that the book is being downloaded for free? Is piracy a viable marketing strategy? What, exactly, is memetics? All these questions and more are answered in this installment of The G-Spot.

“Cosmic Blast” Stimulating Mystical Experience Washes over Earth?

A most curious report is circulating in the Kremlin today, submitted by Colonel Boris Sokolov of the Ministry of Defense, one of Russia’s top UFO investigators, and wherein he states that ‘embedded’ within last months largest ever recorded Cosmic Blast was a ‘40 megahertz radio wave coded signal’ that could ‘stimulate’ the electromagnetic activity of religiously devout people by ‘substantially altering’ their brain frequencies.
The areas of the brain of devout followers of religion most likely to have ‘received’ this ‘cosmic message’, this report continues, had previously been identified by French Researchers from the University of Montreal, and who stated about their research:

“The main goal of the study was to identify the neural correlates of a mystical experience. Rather than there being one spot that relates to mystical experiences, we’ve found a number of brain regions are involved. This does not diminish the meaning and value of such an experience and neither does it confirm or disconfirm the existence of God,” explained lead researcher of the study Dr Mario Beauregard. ”

Colonel Sokolov continues in his report by stating that this ‘cosmic message’ would be first ‘understood’ by the most devoted followers of religion as their brain frequencies are more attuned to the 40 megahertz radio wave and that these people would be, most likely, found in cults.

Now, and most curiously, following this ‘cosmic message’ blasted at our Earth, both the United States and European Union have launched near simultaneous crackdowns against their respective religious cults…

If true the above has to be one of the most interesting pieces of news I have heard in a long time, for many different reasons. JH

Untitled Mars

Taking a cue from the space industry, Jay Scheib's latest work pits hard Science against Philip K. Dick as interplanetary speculation runs amok, the indigenous population gets screwed, and a strange "anomalous" kid seems to hold all the answers. Developed at MIT with a team of Mars researchers and anthropologists, a mission to colonize the Red Planet is revving up for 2017. Imagining what might happen once we get there, Scheib drops seven performers into a simulated Martian society. Can't make ends meet on Earth? Consider a one-way ticket to Mars!

Future Perfect Past Tense

When I look back over the stories that make up my life, sometimes it's like the chicken and the egg. You know, which came first? "Time is nonlinear." It's only three words and so easy to agree with intellectually, but the experience of it? Well, let me give you an example.
When I was just starting to grow up too fast, my best friend introduced me to my first love. For the better part of the bus ride home my friend told me about this girl. She was amazing and beautiful and he had no idea if she liked him at all, but he had to find out. I still remember his exact words, "You have experience with the ladies; you have to talk to her for me." To this day I have no idea how he came to such an astoundingly wrong conclusion, but because he was my best friend and because neither of us had read Cyrano de Bergerac, I agreed to do as he asked.
That afternoon was the kind of hot that only comes on the back of an Indian Summer. The sky was ready to rain green, and she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Blonde hair and blue eyes; a cliché, I know, but she wore it well. When she spoke, it was all over for me. Her voice was deep, rough at the edges, utterly feminine, and made me quiver. After a while I pulled her aside to talk privately.
Swallowing my feelings for her, I readied myself to speak on my friend's behalf, but when I opened my mouth something peculiar happened. My vision blurred, like the air was humming and suddenly I was watching from the backseat. The conversation was short and sweet, and I was far more charming than any twelve year old boy has a right to be. She confessed that it was me she really liked, and asked her friend to deliver a close-but-no-cigar message to my friend. When he read it he didn't even look at me, he just got up and left.  I had gone to win her heart for him and kept it for myself instead. It was a betrayal and we both knew it. My sense of loyalty was outraged, but I was so disoriented all I could do was stand there with a dumb look on my face. One of the older kids came over, put a beer in my hand and said, "Don't worry, he'll get over it." I had never had a beer before, but I was positive it was exactly what I needed.
Now, I love a good cliché, so I don't mind telling you that I'll never forget that afternoon, but I will throw in a twist. I'll always remember that day because it's the first time I felt the hand of a Future Self moving me in a direction I had neither the social graces nor the experience to move in myself.
Running into a Future Self like that is both profound and unnervingly weird. What makes it weirder still for me is that in the narrative I've pieced together and called My Life, this event happens before I start working with time magick. The more you work with time, just how nonlinear it is really sinks in, and makes it very hard to say for sure who or what you really are. There's this strange feeling to it, like everything is totally predestined, but at the same time, feeling like you can do or change nearly anything. This contradiction and all the confusion it brings is enough to make anyone ask, "Why bother with time magick?" That's why I wanted to share this story in particular.
Eventually I patched things up with my friend, and though we still talk to this day, if I had never spoken with him again, that would have been okay. I had moments with that girl I wouldn't trade for anything. That slice of life we shared was so important to me that I reached out to myself across time to make sure it happened. This kind of thing can't happen in the 3d world with its linear concept of time, but because I've experienced it, I know there is more. Who doesn't want more, for themselves, their children, this planet? Yes, there is confusion; yes, things can go wrong, but because I want more; for and of the things I love, I push forward into this uncharted and un-chartable territory. No one said crashing the gates of Eden would be easy, but I promise you, it's worth it.

You, me and the Art Whore

1000 ft and still rising, I have no fucking idea how I'm going to get down. Fuck it. I will probably jump off as soon as we get to the top. I can hardly breathe up here the air is so thin.

FP's next ritual Weaponised Art 1.0, takes place at Dead Head Haunts - Guerrilla Zoo at the Corsica Arts club on the 19th of August. The edges of this one are blurred. Deliberately. I'm fucking loving it. Never felt so free and yet piss pant scared.

I hope to see you on Saturday. I will be the one with a plastic bag over my face. No really a plastic bag.

Do you fuck for art?

August 04, 2006

Taking it apart.

Rehearsals began this week at Treadwell's for Weaponised Art 1.0, our performance at Guerrilla Zoo on the 19th of August at Corsica Arts Club.

The script deals with modern Magickal subversiveness and much of the ideas and themes touch upon the work FP has conducted over the last year.

Much of today was spent taking what we have apart and seeking its strengths when in the hands of core FP performers. It was good to get back to working with people like Mark Wright (Wound). He's very fucking funny and a pleasure to work with.

Much of the script was written in various fugue states. I'm trying to replicate altered states that mimic communion with pharmacological Egregore's but with no ingestion of the substances. Most drug induced states are available via sleep deprivation, exhaustion, sex or various other methods. I'm playing with Leary's 8-Circuit Model of Consciousness on this one, so expect me to be even more incoherent than normal as we begin to tool up Weaponised Art 1.0.

The beginning of my Foolish ways

Its hard to know how to begin an explanation of ones journey as a FoolishPerson. Mines been marvelous. That of a Fool. Teetering on the edge of possibility until the purest inspiration of art I've ever seen flies me right off.

Excuse the exaggeration I'm a Scorpio. No fuck that, it has been that crazy, that utterly Magickal and for a a five foot welsh girl from Newport most fucking bizarre. My life has literally spun upside down, a result of my attempt to ensure that my daily life reflects my instinct. and whilst i love the universe for the gifts of change its pretty fucking hard to make reality catch up sometimes, I've been overcome with the urge to suddenly not care at all about money, a dangerous thought for anyone who spends their time with a sitar playing Bulgarian and a beautiful moon-child on a regular basis but hey welcome to FP.

A mirror to your soul. Days of illumination wrapped in the intent to change the world. As you may be able to tell I'm pretty excited, I am trying not to swear too much but that's how good it feels to be me right now. amongst all the craziness I've recently created for myself is this opportunity to communicate to anyone brave enough to really listen all the things we seem to be slowly slipping into utter ignorance over, the lines are becoming blurred my friends and it all just feels a little too fucked sometimes. I'm afraid I cant claim to have the answers though, but I'm well open to any suggestions, a collaborated manifesto, bring it.

Heres another beautiful thing im learning about FP, how the daily time we spend together is a true reflection of the instinct to want to wake the fuck up. How dare we inflict upon those who come to listen a journey we have yet to go down? thats just plain rude. you gotta try.

I think a part of me still holds a belief in human nature that most people tell me is idealistic and naive, but let me just share this thought with you. if we all caught ourselves in a mirror, truly caught ourselves in the mirror, trapped in the space of who you are and who you're meant to become, (in the words of Mr Harrigan),  if we all open ourselves to revelations of endless possibility wouldnt some of all this shit stop? wouldnt the world be a better place? ever the idealist aimless, I just have more faith in trying than giving up and handing it over. Talks of fox hunting, pregnant rabbits being forced to run n tread mills to research exercise in pregnant women, and monkeys being tortured to test the effects of stress on their menstrual cycle. We've got the balance wrong, is it possible to evolve in the wrong direction? I dont know where we're going but we've got to start looking surely and if we all did that would it all not become a little kinder? just a little more compassionate for our entire wee planet.

So beautifully insignificant we may as well try all we can to keep it strong.

Wheres the harm in giving it a go?

WORST SPY CHIEF MARKS BUSH

Rumsfeld's go-to guy (the Central Intelligence Agency) dismissed any reported rivalries with his intelligence bretheren as "theoretical conspiracies" that were "all off the mark." He added about 2/3 said the country was in worse shape than it was when he became president six years ago. The composition of congressional districts (down from 29% in January) will make it hard for Democrats to recapture control of Congress in the fall.

Just 23%  said they approved of the job Congress was doing. Some Republicans would permit illegal immigrants a 700-mile fence along the United States - Mexican borther. Two thirds opposed building in the intelligence world.

The Pentagon has always been a behemoth czar position. The C.I.A. has the lead role in managing "human intelligence" or spying. Defence Intelligence Agency personnel and Special Operations forces conducting secret counterterrorism missions in the Pentagon has sharply increased the number of clandestine teams of those responsible for planning the attacks on September 11, 2001.

He presented himself as the defender not only of Congress as in the fall of 1994 when the Republicans seized control but of all oppressed people. "He wants to play the hero, mobilizing and inciting the enthusiasm of the young people." His letter echoes Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini who wrote to Mikhail S. Gorbachev in September 1989 that Communism was dead.

"There's no power play taking place in Washington."

He did not use the terms "Great Satan" or "World Oppressor"

Happy FoolishPeople Day

Sorry I havent been around these parts for the last couple of weeks. I have been busy with the rest of FP working away on the creation of Weaponised Art for Cycle III of Dark Nights of the Soul.

Just what Weaponised Art is will be revealed on the 14th April at The Horse Hospital in Emergence. I will reveal that a noumenal cleaning kit is always present to disinfect the multi coloured plasma from our third eyes when working in the FP clean environment.

In the mean time I would like to wish you all a very Happy Fools Day.

Much Love.

Future Selves

Each Cycle of Dark Nights of The Soul is written directly after the previous Cycle has been performed. This allows me to apply the lessons that have been learnt in the performance of the previous Cycle.

Its almost too hard to talk about as we are still in the thick of it and being only roughly half way through just seems so fucking far off the end of this whole thing, but for me this whole project has been about survival and the emergence of new knowledge and information.

I'm approaching the end of the process of writing the next Cycle and I will be so very fucking glad when we enter the next stage - Rehearsals.

I swing from thinking this is the best piece of writing I  have ever produced to feeling its too complicated a piece, even by my standards.

As I write it I cant help but feel I'm responding to a non linear time frame. Almost as if future selves are taking a hand in the process.

Tesco stocks up on inside knowledge of shoppers' lives

Tesco is quietly building a profile of you, along with every individual in the country - a map of personality, travel habits, shopping preferences and even how charitable and eco-friendly you are. A subsidiary of the supermarket chain has set up a database, called Crucible, that is collating detailed information on every household in the UK, whether they choose to shop at the retailer or not.

The company refuses to reveal the information it holds, yet Tesco is selling access to this database to other big consumer groups, such as Sky, Orange and Gillette. "It contains details of every consumer in the UK at their home address across a range of demographic, socio-economic and lifestyle characteristics," says the marketing blurb of dunnhumby, the Tesco subsidiary in question. It has "added intelligent profiling and targeting" to its data through a software system called Zodiac. This profiling can rank your enthusiasm for promotions, your brand loyalty, whether you are a "creature of habit" and when you prefer to shop. As the blurb puts it: "The list is endless if you know what you are looking for."

Dunnhumby's chairman, Clive Humby, offers a few more clues. Companies such as Experian, Claritas and Equifax have databases on individuals and Crucible collects from them all. Any questionnaire you may have completed, any reader offers you responded to, are bought to build up a picture of attitudes and habits. Crucible also trawls the electoral roll, collecting names, ages and housing information. It uses data from the Land Registry, Office for National Statistics and other bodies to generate a profile of the area you live in. Zodiac is employed to provide a more detailed profile. The combination is valuable to many consumer goods firms: dunnhumby generated profits of £4m on sales of £28m in the last year for which accounts are available. Some £12m of business was done directly with Tesco.

( I told you so, Tesco's is becoming Ruined Steel)

Predictions of the Winds

I'm deep into the research for the first Dark Nights of the Soul and I come across the piece below which is taken from the transcribe of an Art Bell show which aired on the 14th of June 1996. Major Ed Dames a remote viewer who states he worked for the CIA etc was the guest.

"Oh, it looks like it's within the next several years, we're coming up real close, one of the things that Psi-Tech is doing now is establishing milestones, timelines, so that when one event occurs, people will know what the next one is, and the time between them, so that they can prepare. Prepare meaning, take your babies off of cow's milk, start digging under the ground because heavy winds are coming, move from one area to another because you'll have no fresh water, those kind of things".ED DAMES

The Horror Continues in Katrina Apocalypse

10:57 Raw transcript of comments by NOLA evacuee Clara Barthelemy: "The 17th street levee was bombed by the Army Corps of Engineers to save the more valuable real estate in the city… to keep the French Quarter protected, the ninth ward was sacrificed… people are afraid to speak out… everyone who was near there heard the bombings… they bombed seven times. That's why they didn't fix the levees… 20 feet of water. Gators. People dying in water. They let the parishes go, not the city center. Tourist trap was saved over human life. A six year old girl was raped in here.. 9 year old boy killed. A man in the shower beaten. No hot food. No help for elderly."

Another evacuee: "Over 20 rapes per night happening inside this place. They bring in national guard for media purposes. Bush wants us to stay here to raise his ratings. Some workers are stealing the good stuff, like shoes."

Army Times calls NOLA Katrina victims "the insurgency"

An article in the Army Times is referring to American citizens in New Orleans as "the insurgency".

Does this mean the United States is now in an undeclared state of civil war?

NEW ORLEANS - Combat operations are underway on the streets "to take this city back" in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

"This place is going to look like Little Somalia," Brig. Gen. Gary Jones, commander of the Louisiana National Guard's Joint Task Force told Army Times Friday as hundreds of armed troops under his charge prepared to launch a massive citywide security mission from a staging area outside the Louisiana Superdome. "We're going to go out and take this city back. This will be a combat operation to get this city under control."

Jones said the military first needs to establish security throughout the city. Military and police officials have said there are several large areas of the city are in a full state of anarchy. Dozens of military trucks and up-armored Humvees left the staging area just after 11 a.m. Friday, while hundreds more troops arrived at the same staging area in the city via Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters.

"We're here to do whatever they need us to do," Sgt. 1st Class Ron Dixon, of the Oklahoma National Guard's 1345th Transportation Company. "We packed to stay as long as it takes."

While some fight the insurgency in the city, other carry on with rescue and evacuation operations. Helicopters are still pulling hundreds of stranded people from rooftops of flooded homes.

'Thoughts read' via brain scans

Scientists say they have been able to monitor people's thoughts via scans of their brains.

Teams at University College London and University of California in LA could tell what images people were looking at or what sounds they were listening to.

The US team say their study proves brain scans do relate to brain cell electrical activity.

The UK team say such research might help paralysed people communicate, using a "thought-reading" computer.

(Maybe I'm a complete paranoid but this just makes me worry about the future thought Police applications this could be applied to.)
