Dear Yung,

I really wanted to come to the performance tonight but I think that 20
Tracey Emin's are quite enough in one place at once! Good luck with it
all.

Much Love,

Dead Language - ICA - Opens this Thursday

Platoons of the latest replicas of Banksy roam the landscape, led by General Clone Banksy, a talentless nobody who once found a sample of Banksy DNA on an empty spray can.

A rowdy gang of Tracey Emins wrestle half a dozen dazed Andy Warhols to the ground. It is the future and all forms of art are free, perfect replicas exist of every masterpiece ever created, copyright and ownership are meaningless, ideas are cheap and replicated ad infinitum.

Artists have realised that their own identity is the only thing they can own or control, so fans become clones of artists in order to spread their art/identity. One final piece of uncorrupted art remains, yet to be copied: a living story told by Neonate Muses.

Come and experience the living story and see how the world died with FoolishPeople's immersive, evolving performance in the ICA theatre.

The Membrane

As we head into the performance week I find myself humbled once again by the support FP has received. I want to thank you all. Everyone who has been a part of getting us to the ICA.

If you want things to change in regards to entertainment and Art, if you want to stop being fed utter shit, then we all need to stop passively consuming what is on offer at the local cinema or easily found within your comic shop or local Virgin store.

FP is at a crucial stage and we need to show that their is an audience for our work. So I'm asking you to come along and witness what we have created. If you believe in what we are trying to accomplish then tell your friends about what you have discovered.  Help us break times hymen. If you want us to break through the membrane then maybe now is the time to support us with your own magick to give us that extra push.

And if your coming to see Dead Language, see you on the other side.

Dead Language - Preview

“Entertainment has let us down...It’s actually preventing us from living our lives.”

In the run up to the London Premiere of 'Dead Language' at the ICA next week, John has been involved in a variety of interviews, the most recent being an exclusive interview with Open Magazine's Loma-Ann Bonner:
"There's a layer to art and entertainment now that's stopping us thinking, it's coming between us and common sense."

Next week, FoolishPeople will feature on LBC Radio, with an audio preview of 'Dead Language'. Details to follow...

Greylodge

We are very proud to announce that Greylodge, has become our main sponsor for 'Dead Language', which runs at the ICA from 17th-22nd October.

Greylodge is such an important site for so many reasons, who FoolishPeople have followed for a number of years, and couldn't be happier for people who we respect as much as them to be supporting ourselves in such an incredible way. We would like to especially thank Joseph Matheny and James Curcio for the part he played in making this happen, for believing in our work and stepping forward to assist FoolishPeople at a crucial time.

John Harrigan Interview - Alterati.

"When you learn how to write an article(tm), you are generally taught that you’re supposed to frame things for your audience with your lead. But in this case I would only be giving you a copy of a copy of a copy. When you’re posed with a performance like Dead Language, it doesn’t so much matter what your critique is. I don’t come away from this with any need to make sense of a plot or analyze the performance based on traditional criteria. I’m not thinking anything at all. Everything that happened was visceral, emotional, possibly subconscious. So what can I tell you? If you went to see a play, and it terrified you so much you pissed all over yourself and broke your leg trying to flee the building, would that be a “good” play?"

Dead Language - Prague

FP leave for Prague tomorrow to live and work on Dead Language at a remote farmhouse that has been offered to us by a member of FP's family.

Lucy and I are still currently without a home, which suits us fine at the moment. Existing on the generosity of others restores your faith that everything just might turn out OK.

Expect pictures from Prague as work progresses. In the meantime I have loaded the first photos to the Desecration album.

Operate

I'm finally seeing the true value of keeping a work journal.

To operate effectively and not end up shutting down completely I need to have some space to allow the structure of my mind to shift away from the gaze of anything that has a beating heart.

Drifting today after checking out, I have now decamped to the NFT, using their project space to continue work on the redraft of Dead Language for the ICA, before heading back up to Nottingham tonight for the performance week of Desecration.

Desecration - Way In...

Just found a way in, after four days off the grid.

Preparations for Desecration are going well, sometimes too well. We've had at least one confirmed possession. Along with various other positive and strong biological reactions to the GLORY that is the Galleries of Justice.

I feel like I'm home, I could sleep in BenBen/ThePit.

FP, doing this one for the Demon.

Now that I have access again you should keep your wet little holes focused here (FoolishPeople.com) for updates on the journey towards the beginning of the manifestation of Desecration on the 6th of September.

Desecration will exist in the material realm for no longer than four days.

The gap closes on the 2nd of September after the last working. So its advisable to book early.

A clue, if you need to exist within the eye of the storm, then book your tickets for Friday the 7th of September. As we have something special in mind for this date.

Desecration is a Theatre of Ophidia and FoolishPeople production, it would be amiss of me to not mention that Desecration would not have ever even happened without the faith and insight of Martin Jeffrey the master mind behind Theatre of Ophidia and Fright Nights.

You still have time (retroactive time) to experience the various ripples of FoolishPeople's Dead Language at Esozone via the Internetz.

Phase II have a review of Dead Language for you.

Reflections again tomorrow around this time.

Bill Whitcomb on Dead Language at Esozone

"Obvious survivors of the harshest of Nova conditions, Foolish People's performance of Dead Language at EsoZone in Portland shimmered with life force and various less identifiable radiations.  Could this be the first theatre requiring tinfoil hats?

Whatever the reason, John Harrigan and the other members of his troupe move on stage in a way you can feel all the way in the balcony.  Their combination of esoteric symbolism and ritual elements provides an interactive, gnostic experience that will leave you feeling...different.  Come see a challenging vision that will leave you scrambling to establish digital rights management for your soul.

I cannot recommend attending the next Foolish People performance strongly enough.  After all, someone should probably be keeping an eye on them."

Congregation

I'm staying in Guildford tonight, before FP fly out at 12:30pm from Gatwick.

It's been a busy week, lots of meetings; ICA, potential production designers and costume designers, while also putting the final elements in place for pre production on Desecration.

Expect updates from me along the way and when we touch down in Portland.

Dead Language London Premiere - ICA

Ikipr

I'm very pleased to announce that I'm collaborating with the immensely talented Ikipr on Dead Language, his music has fed my own current for sometime now.

Ikipr is creating a soundtrack of Hyper-Dimensional music that is both sublime and powerful. His work on Dead Language beautifully complements the work FP have been manifesting within rehearsals, it adds another solid layer of Magick from a true master. 'Ikipr has been working in Music and Magick concurrently for the past nine years. His work attempts to create magickal states in harmonics. In this way he works through pre-established systems in a cross-discplinary fashion, however, to record this VIA waveforms requires a scholary chaos magick approach.

He runs the netlabel at aleph9 and attempts to work in the background of information oriented communities to fuel and aid the great work in any role which he may be able to fit.'

Esozone Lives

The Esozone site is now live.

The second half of the twentieth century saw the proliferation of diverse cultural trends. Zine culture, underground comix and alternative media covered subcultures otherwise inaccessible in a stifling, corporatist consensus reality. This culminated in the Internet's promise of personally-created virtual realities. Now in the twenty-first century this promise has largely come to fruition with a corner of the Internet for every microculture imaginable. However, esoZone is conceived as an event decidedly oriented towards moving our specific meme culture (however one personally interprets that) out of impersonal communication (whether it be the Internet or mail art) into the Meatspace of Malkuth.

Human beings are deeply social animals, enriched by interpersonal communication in the flesh. Any (r)evolution which takes place only in cyberspace, the Interzone or the Akashic records is fundamentally flawed because culture is only a form of communication, it is not experience itself.

esoZone provides a map toward a new kind of culture that recognizes the truism of Stephen Dedalus' "History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake." Unlike the doom and gloom of the so-called "Apocolypse Culture", esoZone draws on the radical optimism of the recently departed Robert Anton Wilson. While we all admire the work of the counterculture, Chaos Magick, our comic books heroes and the Discordian pranksters of "the good old days" we do not seek to venerate or even necessarily to emulate them, but rather to provide a road map into the future where we can create reality in such a way that makes sense to us. esoZone is futurist, in as much as it is a future-present oriented event where we root ourselves in the present while never forgetting that we are creatures moving forward in space-time. Designer realities are the personal chariot of travel into future and esoZone represents a collective road map (not the territory!) through the process of mutual interaction.

Lest there be any kind of confusion, the "star" of esoZone is Time Magazine's person of the year- You. The event has been conceived as primarily user-driven and ceases to become the exclusive property of the planners the second that the doors open on August 10. esoZone's structure has been designed for maximum facilitation of communication between all participants be they event planners, guests, staff, performers, speakers or anyone else present in the physical area of esoZone.

Perhaps more interesting than our lofty intentions is the schedule. Everyone listed at the event will be available for your inspection- be it at audience-driven panels, performances that will permanently change your brain, open discussion groups, a for the 21st century mass, a live internet radio interview, workshops, gallery showings, dance parties, or just mingling around. esoZone is partly a reaction against quasi-celebrity driven esotericism. esoZone is not a collection of talking heads, but a menagerie of reality engineers just like You.
